An Investigation into the Origins of Climate Change Skepticism


In Riley E. Dunlap’s paper, Climate Change Skepticism and Denial, the author explains, “The complex nature of human-caused or anthropogenic global warming and uncertainties in the risks it poses make it challenging for laypersons to understand its causes, perceive its impacts, and take actions that might help alleviate future warming.” This paper investigates efforts by those involved in the fossil fuel industry to further obscure public understanding of this complex phenomenon.
